Welcome to How We Argue!
This is a free online course, designed by Harvard philosophers, to help you improve your critical thinking skills. This course is broken down into very small chunks (short videos and practice exercises), so you can take it at your own pace. It will take you about 3-5 hours total to work all the way through the course, if you want to finish everything. The more effort that you put into solving all of the exercises correctly, the more you will improve your critical thinking skills.
You should think of this course as a logic boot camp because it is full of practice exercises that will help you build your critical thinking “muscles.” More specifically, we will teach you a research-backed method called argument mapping, which is a way of visualizing people’s reasoning. By doing lots of practice with argument mapping, you will get better at analyzing, evaluating, and creating arguments, which will make you a more effective thinker and communicator.
